Netherton is a small community based on the outskirts of the Hauraki Plains. The Netherton school and community hall is at the heart of this rural community.

"The Cut" in Netherton, a fantastic man-made lake is a popular spot with water enthusiasts, located on Captain Cook Road. On the corner of Captain Cook Road and Hauraki Road is the Captain Cook Memorial and picnic area. The three tonne steel anchor commemorates Captain Cook's venture up the Waihou river more than 200 years ago, landing approximately 1.5 miles north of Netherton.
